Your emphasis on Tinubu’s past records now ludicrous – Presidential aide hits Peter Obi

President Bola Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement, Frederick Nwabufo, has said although the president’s past records may not be perfect, the persistent emphasis on the issue has become unreasonable.

Nwabufo was reacting to the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s recent remarks on an ongoing legal battle in a United States, US, District Court over Tinubu’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

Posting on X, Obi wrote: “An imperfect past is part of the human condition. When will our political class fully appreciate that individual ambitions are temporary, while the nation endures?”

Reacting, Nwabufo described Obi’s claims as “ludicrous.”

In a statement he signed, Nwabufo said: “Mr Obi @PeterObi, it is important that disciplined conversations guide the campaigns and that ideas remain the thrust of engagement.

“In response to your ludicrous claims, there is no so-called “imperfect past.” The issues have been routinely investigated and found to be patently false, libelous and have even been determined by the highest court of the land.

“This refrain is a tired and expired one, regurgitated every election cycle from the bowels of a failing and failed opposition who have nothing to campaign with but slander and slurs.”
