‘Bola Tinubu Made Life Expensive’ — Atiku Urges Nigerians to Collect PVCs

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has urged Nigerians to collect and safeguard their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), calling on citizens to use their votes to demand change amid rising living costs and persistent insecurity.
Atiku, in a message addressed to Nigerians across generations, expressed concern over the economic hardship facing households, pensioners and young people, noting that many families are struggling to afford basic necessities.
He said parents were going to bed worried about how to feed their children, while pensioners were being forced to choose between buying medicines and purchasing food.
The former vice-president also highlighted the financial pressure on young Nigerians, observing that transportation, rent and other essential expenses were consuming a significant portion of their earnings.
Atiku further expressed concern over the security situation in the country, citing fears of kidnapping and violent attacks that have left families worried about the safety of their loved ones.
“No family should have to face hunger and insecurity at the same time,” he said, warning that economic hardship and fear should not become the future inherited by the next generation.
Calling on registered voters to take an active role in the democratic process, Atiku urged them to collect their PVCs and keep them safe, describing the cards as instruments through which Nigerians could peacefully demand change.
“If you are a registered voter, please go and collect your PVC. Hold on to it. It is your voice, your choice and your peaceful power to demand change,” he said.
Taking a swipe at President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the cost of living, Atiku declared: “Bola made life expensive. I will work to make life affordable again and restore the security every Nigerian deserves.”
He called for unity among Nigerians across generations, emphasising the need for a country where families can live with dignity, enjoy greater security and have renewed hope for the future.
Atiku’s message places the cost of living and national security at the centre of his criticism of the Tinubu administration, while presenting the PVC as a means for citizens to express their political choices through the ballot box.
The statement did not outline specific policy measures for reducing living costs or tackling insecurity.
