Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover: Fearless Bottles Used to Conceal Colos, Meth

When they say, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” it is for a reason.

A commercial bus driver reportedly spent time in custody and could have faced prosecution after unknowingly accepting what appeared to be bottles of Fearless energy drink as a waybill package in Lagos for delivery to Ondo State.

Unknown to him, the bottles had allegedly been used to conceal illicit substances, including Colos and Meth, instead of the energy drink they appeared to contain.

According to the account, officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) discovered the substances during their operation and subsequently tracked down and arrested the person who allegedly handed the package to the driver.

The driver may have been fortunate that investigators were able to trace the source of the package. Without such evidence, he could have found himself in a far more difficult legal situation.

The incident is another warning to commercial drivers, dispatch riders and members of the public: be extremely careful when accepting parcels for delivery, especially when you do not know or cannot verify what is inside.

A parcel may look completely harmless on the outside—even like an ordinary bottle of Fearless—but its contents could tell an entirely different story.

Before you accept that waybill, ask questions. Verify the contents. Your freedom may depend on it.

As they say, you go explain tire!
