Kaduna Police Arrest 12 Suspected Kidnappers, Informants, Recover AK-47 Rifles in Millennium City

Kaduna Government Deploys Three Additional Armoured Personnel Carriers as Security Operations Intensify

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects, comprising eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants, during intensified security operations in Millennium City and Maraban Rido, following persistent security concerns in the areas.

The police also announced the recovery of AK-47 rifles during the operations, which involved clearance exercises, targeted raids and increased patrols conducted in collaboration with other security agencies.

The command said the operations were aimed at dismantling criminal networks, disrupting kidnapping activities and improving the safety of residents in the affected communities.

The eight suspects identified as alleged kidnappers are Dauda Murna, Usman Abdullahi, Abubakar Sulaiman, Saleh Abdullahi, Usman Muhammed, Mathias Moses, Makama John and Tafarki Audu.

The four suspected informants were identified as Shuaibu Sabiu, Audu Makama, Simon Moses and Amadu Mathew.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that two of the suspects allegedly admitted to leaking information about police operations and security movements to criminal elements.

The command expressed concern that the alleged activities of informants could compromise security operations, expose security personnel to danger and undermine efforts to rescue kidnapped victims.

It added that investigations were ongoing to establish the extent of the suspects’ alleged involvement, identify other possible accomplices and ensure that those found culpable are brought to justice.

Kaduna Government Deploys Three APCs

As part of efforts to address the security challenges in Millennium City and surrounding communities, the Kaduna State Government has released three additional Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the police command.

The police said the additional equipment would strengthen operational capacity and support security personnel in responding to threats in the affected areas.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, psc, mni, also ordered the immediate deployment of additional tactical personnel, operational vehicles and other security resources to the communities.

The deployment, according to the command, is intended to intensify surveillance, improve response times and prevent further criminal activities.

The police further assured residents that clearance operations targeting suspected criminal hideouts would continue as part of efforts to disrupt kidnapping networks and facilitate the rescue of victims.

Government Engages Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders

The latest security measures followed a high-powered government engagement with traditional rulers, community members and other stakeholders in the affected areas on October 10, 2026.

The delegation was led by the Chief of Staff to the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Sani Kila, alongside other security chiefs.

During the meeting, Kila reportedly emphasised that security was a collective responsibility and urged residents, community leaders, landlords and youth groups to support security agencies by promptly reporting individuals suspected of aiding or abetting criminal activities.

The engagement was part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation between the government, security agencies and local communities in tackling kidnapping and other security threats.

Police Urge Residents to Remain Vigilant

The police command noted that Millennium City is surrounded by forested areas and situated on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis, factors that underscore the need for increased surveillance and community vigilance.

The Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain calm and vigilant while reporting suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station.

He also appealed to members of the public to provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in preventing kidnappings and other crimes.

The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across Kaduna State, assuring residents that efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore security in the affected communities would continue.
