Meghan Markle is not feeling the love from the royals following her and her husband, Prince Harry, returning to the UK with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

According to a new report, certain actions carried out by senior members of the royal family have left the duchess in particular feeling especially unwelcome.

This comes as King Charles clarifies in a new letter where Prince Harry and Meghan stand when it comes to their roles as royals after their return to the country.

King Charles was recently spotted driving through a village in Scotland right after Harry and Meghan made their return to the UK from California.

According to a source who spoke with the Examiner, the British monarch “hot-footed it off to Scotland” when the Sussexes arrived in the country, and it didn’t “exactly send a warm welcome” to the couple.

“She wasn’t expecting a tea party or anything official, but it would’ve been nice to have some sort of signal from Charles that he was happy to have his son and grandchildren back in town,” the source noted about Meghan, claiming the move by Charles rubbed her the wrong way.

Harry and Meghan’s arrival in the UK, which was confirmed to have been on Wednesday, August 26, via a private jet, was also not met with taxpayer-funded protection at Birmingham Airport.

Although several people have reached out to welcome Harry and Meghan, and the couple has “had all sorts of nice messages, especially from the Spencers,” the Examiner source noted that “Meghan’s still got this underlying feeling that they are not really welcomed by anyone within the King’s circle.”

Speaking more about Meghan and Harry’s UK return, the source noted that the cold reception from royal family members has made it clear how challenging it would be for the couple to get an audience with the king or “anyone else in his orbit.”

The reaction is unsurprising, as Harry and Meghan have had a longstanding rift with other royal family members since they chose to quit being working royals in 2020 and move to the US to chase their personal endeavors.

“It’s what Meghan expected, but it’s still a huge disappointment because Harry has been promising her it would be so much different,” the insider noted. “He seemed to think there would be a real excitement on his father’s part about having them back, but that just doesn’t seem to be the case.”

They added, “There’s been no warm welcome or really any kind of kindness at all being shown. On top of that, there’s still all this hatred coming her way. It’s a lot to adjust to — it’s no wonder she’s feeling pretty defeated already.”

Very recently, a source shared with Star Magazine that the Duchess of Sussex was already second-guessing her decision to move back to the UK years after her and Harry’s infamous exit.

The source told the publication that there is some “uncertainty over how things are going to go with the royals and the British public.”

They further added that Meghan especially is “understandably pretty anxious” about what is to come and is “already wondering if this was a mistake.”

The Sussexes notably didn’t return as working royals and reportedly won’t live in any royal properties during what is expected to be an extended stay in the country.

Instead, Harry and Meghan plan to set up camp in the luxurious Cotswolds, with their children already being enrolled in a school in the area, per Page Six.

A source shared with Closer Magazine that the future king is “still very angry” with the couple and is shocked by the kind of attention Harry is already receiving since he returned to the country.

William also knows that there are hopes for a reunion between him and the Sussexes but is said to be uninterested in acting like all is well, choosing to maintain their drawn-out family feud.

“He says he’s tried forcing himself to make nice before, and it was unbearable,” the source said, while bringing up the “terribly painful” walkabout William and his wife, Kate, had with Harry and Meghan at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

William reportedly feels his and Harry’s relationship is so broken that it would be impossible to return to how things once were.

King Charles recently ordered for the release of a letter to clear up the subtle confusion surrounding Harry and Meghan’s royal status after their return to the UK.

The document, described as a letter of guidance, per People Magazine, was sent out to senior officials in the UK government, military, and Lord Lieutenancies, stating that there is “no change” to the Sussexes’ status despite their relocation.

The monarch’s letter was reportedly sent due to a “number of requests” for clarity on Harry and Meghan’s roles and titles.

“To help avoid doubt or confusion, the King has directed that the following information be shared,” the letter read in part.

“Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used,” the letter further noted. “The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”
