Passenger Dies on Kenya Airways Flight Shortly Before Lagos Landing

A passenger has died after a medical emergency on a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi, Kenya, to Lagos, Nigeria.

The airline confirmed the death in a statement on Wednesday.

It said the incident happened on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as the plane was getting close to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

According to the airline, the passenger was found unresponsive at about 9:20pm Nigerian time, roughly 20 minutes before landing.

The plane touched down at about 9:41pm, and medical staff came on board to attend to the passenger.

After checking the person, the medical team confirmed that the passenger had died.

Kenya Airways sent its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and apologised for any inconvenience the incident may have caused.

It said it respects the privacy and dignity of everyone involved.

The airline added that it is working with the family, local authorities and aviation regulators to provide the needed help and carry out the procedures that follow a death on board.
