Residents of Ekwulobia, Anambra State, have raised concerns over the emergency response after a fire reportedly broke out at Bank Lane on Friday morning.

The incident triggered reactions online as residents shared videos and comments from the scene, with some questioning why a fire service truck was reportedly not available when the fire started.

One resident cried out while lamenting the absence of a fire service truck and pointing to a water tanker that eventually arrived to assist with the situation.

“Look at our own ‘Dubai Taiwan’, no fire service truck. See the water tanker that eventually arrived to help.”

Other residents also took to X to ask about the whereabouts of the fire service, while some criticised the state government over the reported emergency response.

Anambra State has an Ekwulobia Fire Station listed among the state’s fire service facilities, while the state government has also previously included a fire service station in its Ekwulobia urban development plans.
