Military to conduct live firing exercise in Damaturu

Nigerian Army said it will conduct a military exercise at the Damaturu Military Cantonment on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Abubakar Ibrahim, the exercise will involve live firing as part of routine training operations.
“The exercise is scheduled to hold between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.”, the statement said.
The Army assured the public that it is a standard procedure and there is no cause for alarm.
It, however, urged residents, especially farmers and those in communities adjoining the cantonment, to avoid entering or carrying out activities within a minimum safety radius of 800 meters from the designated exercise area.
