The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Women leader, Mary Idele has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would poll 60 percent of the total votes cast in the forthcoming general elections in 2027.
She stated this on Wednesday in Akure a programme organised by Ondo State government to inspire more women to go into politics in the state.
The programme entitled: “Sensitisation and empowerment of women on gender equality and adequate representation in governance(Project 774 Explode Initiative),” was put together by Ondo State government to encourage more women inclusion in governance at all levels.
She commended the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu for the impacts the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) had made across the federation.
Idele said: “There is a party called the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is currently flying the flag of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President. The party is going into elections five months from now. We want to see continuity of the good work of Mr President and we are also telling them that 4+4 must be eight.
“In fact, we are telling that there is No vacancy at the Villa. Therefore, we are not seeking for anybody to come and occupy. The women of the country are ready to vote and if we are not voting, nobody is winning. So, we are ready to vote Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
“In a total, we will have more than 60 percent of votes for Mr President. The APC family will be wining the next election without any question of doubt. A lot of difficult decisions have been made and a lot difficult decisions needed to be made in order to get to where we are heading to.
“For the first of its kind, students are now getting loan to go to school, that is something you cannot cut short because we need continuity. So, that our children can go to school in order to debunk the insinuation that education is a scam. So, try illiteracy to know if education is scam.”
In her address, the wife of Ondo State governor, Seun Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by the wife of the deputy governor, Bosede Adelami, emphasised on the women inclusion in governance.
She said: “Today, we gather not as strangers, but as partners united by a common purpose to build a society where every woman and girl can participate fully, equally and safely in shaping the future of our State.
“We meet at a time when the need for inclusive leadership has never been more compelling. When women’s voices are heard in the corridors of policy-making, communities flourish; when women lead, families prosper; and when women are fairly represented in governance, decisions better reflect the aspirations and realities of the entire population.
“Despite the progress we have made, many social, cultural, economic and institutional barriers still limit women’s access to leadership and decision-making positions.
“That is why gatherings like this are so important. They enlighten, inspire and empower us to take meaningful action in advancing a more inclusive society.”
Mrs. Aiyedatiwa explained that the essence of the programme is “To deepen awareness of the principles of gender equality and the legal and policy frameworks that support women’s participation in political and public life.
“To empower women with practical skills in leadership, advocacy, public speaking and campaign planning, thereby enhancing their preparedness to seek elective positions and provide effective leadership.
“To strengthen networks of support among women, men, community leaders and institutions in order to dismantle barriers to adequate representation.”
Also in his address, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, stated that the Ondo State government would continue to encourage and inspire young female folks to engage in politics.
He said that was what informed the project 774 organised to sensitise the women on gender equality and involvement in decision-making process of the state by contesting for elective positions.
The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Seun Osamaye stated that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been encouraging women inclusion in his style of governance.
She said more women are currently occupying elective and decision-making offices in the state like never before due to the desire of the governor to see women participating in governance.
As part of the programme, some women from the 18 local government areas of the state were handed cash gifts to support their businesses.
The beneficiaries were appreciative of Governor Aiyedatiwa for the cash gifts which they said would go a long way in boosting their individual trades.
