Former Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume has disowned a publication circulating on some media platforms, claiming to have been authorised by him, describing it as false, unauthorised and designed to create tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State.
In a statement issued by his communications office, Araraume said he had no involvement in the document titled “A Message of Gratitude, Unity, and a Clarion Call to Rebuild Okigwe Zone”, insisting that he neither authored nor approved its release.
The former lawmaker said the publication was “a complete fabrication” allegedly intended to misrepresent his position and create unnecessary division among members of the APC, particularly in relation to the Imo North Senatorial Primary.
Araraume reaffirmed his membership and commitment to the APC, stating that he remained loyal to the party, its leadership and its ideals.
He said he was still awaiting the official decision of the party regarding the Imo North Senatorial Primary and had not declared himself as the party’s candidate, contrary to claims contained in the disputed publication.
The statement further stated that: “Senator Araraume remains a steadfast, disciplined, and committed member of the All Progressives Congress. His loyalty to the party, its leadership, and its ideals is unwavering.”
The former senator also dismissed reports suggesting a disagreement between him and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, describing their relationship as cordial and based on mutual respect.
According to him, claims of political friction between both leaders were products of the imagination of those behind the fake publications.
“Any suggestion of disagreement, hostility, or political friction between them exists only in the imagination of the authors of the false publications and should be disregarded,” he stated.
Araraume further called on APC members, residents of Imo North, the media and the general public to disregard the disputed publications, describing them as misleading and without consequence.
He stressed that he remained committed to promoting unity within the party and supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through lawful and responsible engagement.
The statement urged party stakeholders to rely only on authorised communication channels for information concerning Araraume’s political activities and positions.
