Bomadi Political Leaders Forum Demand Urgent Government Intervention

The Bomadi Local Government Area Political Leaders Forum led by Comrade Felix Okpe has called on the Delta State Government to urgently intervene and prioritize infrastructural development and social services in the riverine communities of Delta State.

Daily Independent learnt this from Comrade Felix Okpe in a press statement which was made available to Journalists in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State today, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as the group appeals to the Delta State Government to come to the aid of the citizens of Bomadi Local Government Area.

The forum decided to cry out for government intervention in its monthly meeting held on Saturday, July 26, 2026, in Bomadi. In the release signed on behalf of the Forum, the Chairman and Convener, Comrade Felix Okpe, a human rights activist, stated that “Bomadi LGA remains one of the most underdeveloped areas in Delta State despite being one of the oldest”.

The press statement by Bomadi Political Leaders Forum reads in part: “Bomadi LGA comprises eleven communities: Ogodobiri, Ezebiri, Okoloba, Akugbene, Ogbeinama, Esanma, Ogriagbene, Kalafiogbene, Ekameta, Bomadi, and Kpakiama. Since 1999 to date, the only major projects recorded were the Bomadi Bridge and the network of roads facilitated by Chief Sen. (Dr) James Ebiowou, the former senator representing Delta South senatorial district.
The major project (Bridge) was achieved through the former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, during his tenure in public office.

“At the meeting, the Forum’s Executive Committee had resolved to advocate for critical developmental projects. These included, amongst others are: The completion of the Esanma–Gbaregolor Bridge and the revitalization of the Technical College in Akugbene”.

“And the construction of an additional bridge linking Ogodobiri in Bomadi LGA to Agbodobiri, Egodor, Bikorogha and Ekiagbodo in Burutu LGA, to create a shorter route to Warri and Ughelli. We therefore urge Governor Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, to urgently fix the Gbaregolor-Esanma Bridge before the 2027 elections”.

“This would ease transportation within the LGA. We further appealed to NGOs, the NDDC, the Ministry of Regional Development, and the South-South Development Commission to come to the aid of the people”.

“We, as Forum, therefore reaffirmed our commitment to a long-term development agenda for Bomadi through sustained engagement with government agencies and development partners. We call on all relevant authorities to rescue Bomadi LGA from infrastructural and human capital decay.”
