Posthumous 70th Birthday: Akeredolu ‘s Legacy Of Service Can’t Be Forgotten – Adefarati

The House of Representatives member representing Akoko SouthEast/Akoko Southwest federal constituency, Hon. Dr. Asiwaju Adegboyega Adefarati, has described the late governor of Ondo State ,Rotimi Akeredolu, as a governor-extraordinaire who gave voice to the voiceless.

The federal lawmaker,in a posthumous 70th birthday message, said the late Akeredolu championed the cause of the people of Ondo State, whom he prudently governed for nearly seven years.

The statement reads, “Today, we remember the South-West Generalissimo, the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (Aketi) CON, SAN, for championing the establishment of the Western Security Network, better known as Amotekun.

“He worked tirelessly to strengthen the security of not only Ondo State, but that of the South-West. He was a firm believer in state and local policing, committed to ensuring that the wave of insecurity then creeping into the region was confronted before it became deeply entrenched.

“With deep gratitude for a life dedicated to public service, we commemorate the legacy of the late Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON.

“The late Governor Akeredolu was an extraordinary statesman, a fearless legal luminary, and a fierce advocate for equity, justice, and the security of his people. Throughout his distinguished career, from serving as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to leading Ondo State as its Executive Governor, he stood firm on the principles of true federalism, good governance, and national development.

“His tenure as Governor was marked by transformative infrastructural projects, institutional reforms, and an unyielding commitment to regional security, notably leading the effort to establish the South-West Security Network (Amotekun). “Aketi,” as he was fondly called, was a man of action whose courage and vision reshaped public administration in the region.

“As we reflect on his monumental contributions to Ondo State and the nation at large, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the government, and the resilient people of Ondo State, as well as the entire nation,” Adefarati said.
