Rivers ADC Disowns Alleged Alliance With Wike’s Rainbow Coalition, Demands Impostors’ Arrest

Port Harcourt – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has dismissed reports alleging that a faction of the party has collapsed into the Rainbow Coalition, a political structure associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike.

The party clarified that there is no faction within its Rivers State chapter, stressing that the ADC remains united under its constitution and the duly recognised National Executive Committee (NEC) led by Distinguished Senator David Mark, with validly constituted structures across the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Barr. Chizy Enyi, described the individuals parading themselves as ADC leaders or representatives in the media reports as impostors with no authority to speak or act on behalf of the party, calling on security agencies to arrest and prosecute them for alleged impersonation.

According to him, any declaration of political alliance, endorsement or purported collapse into any coalition by such individuals is purely personal and cannot be attributed to the African Democratic Congress.

The party also faulted references in the reports to an alleged “Ibe Kachukwu faction” within the ADC, describing the claim as baseless and arguing that the error undermines the credibility of the reports and raises serious concerns about the verification process adopted before publication.

The statement said, “We challenge anyone to identify any official, leader or recognised stakeholder of the African Democratic Congress by that name either in Rivers State or within the national leadership of the party.

“It reinforces our position that the reports were deliberately concocted to mislead the public and create a false impression of division within the ADC where none exists,” the party added.

The opposition party however, urged media organisations to verify information relating to the ADC through its duly recognised state and national leadership before publication.

The party further called on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant law enforcement agencies, to investigate individuals allegedly presenting themselves as ADC officials.

It charged the security agencies to determine whether offences relating to impersonation, false representation, conspiracy, forgery or other violations of Nigerian law had been committed and to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

The ADC stated that it would pursue all lawful means to protect its identity and integrity, insisting that anyone falsely claiming to represent the party would be held accountable.

The party, reaffirming its position, assured its members, supporters and residents of Rivers State that it remains united and focused on providing credible leadership and good governance.

“The ADC will pursue every lawful means available to protect its identity, safeguard its integrity, and ensure that those who seek to deceive the public by falsely holding themselves out as representatives of the Party are held accountable in accordance with the law.

“We reassure our members, supporters and the people of Rivers State that the African Democratic Congress remains united, focused and steadfast in its commitment to providing the credible leadership and good governance that our State deserves. No amount of misinformation, sponsored propaganda or political mischief will derail our resolve.”
