Sponsors rally behind Laosun as 5th Oluyole Amateur Open targets bigger golf impact

Corporate partners of the 5th Oluyole Amateur Open have thrown their weight behind Tournament Convener, Folarin Laosun, praising his consistency and unwavering commitment to the development of golf and sports in Nigeria.

The sponsors, who spoke during Tuesday’s official media briefing at the Ibadan Golf Club, described the championship as a model sporting event that has continued to unite the corporate community, amateur golfers and sports enthusiasts while promoting tourism, business networking and community development.

Representatives of the participating brands unanimously commended Laosun for sustaining the tournament over the past five years, saying his passion and vision have transformed the Oluyole Amateur Open into one of Nigeria’s leading amateur golf championships.

They noted that their organisations were supporting the competition not only because of its growing stature but also because it aligns with their commitment to community development, sporting excellence and the premium values their respective brands represent.

Speaking on behalf of Leadway Assurance, Head of Brand and Communications, Niyi Abiola, said the company was delighted to return as a principal sponsor for the second consecutive year.

He explained that Leadway’s continued partnership reflects its corporate philosophy of helping people live the life they desire while creating lasting value for society.

According to him, supporting golf is another way of contributing to healthy living, community development and the continued growth of one of Nigeria’s most prestigious amateur sporting events.

General Manager, Marketing, Carloha Nigeria, Felix Mahan, also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sports development, stressing that Carloha would continue to support golf and other sporting initiatives that promote excellence.

He said the partnership perfectly reflects the premium experience, innovation and quality service associated with the Chery brand, adding that the company remains committed to rewarding excellence through sports. As the tournament’s Official Automotive Partner, Carloha Nigeria will offer a brand-new Chery Tiggo 8 Pro to any golfer who records a hole-in-one during the championship.

Representative of Openfield Properties and Management Limited, developers of the Oluyole Golf and Country Estate, Moniya, Kayode Adebayo, highlighted the unique features of the estate and its vision of delivering a premium residential and recreational lifestyle.

He said Openfield’s decision to present the championship stems from its belief in supporting initiatives that encourage healthy recreation, economic growth and sustainable community development.

“Our vision remains to build a world-class amateur golf championship that promotes excellence, strengthens partnerships and contributes meaningfully to sports tourism and economic development,” he said, while expressing appreciation to sponsors, partners, players and members of the golfing community for their continued confidence in the tournament.

Scheduled for August 14 to 16, 2026, the fifth edition will attract more than 150 amateur golfers, corporate executives, business leaders, investors and golf enthusiasts from across the country to the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club.

Activities will begin with a practice round and welcome cocktail reception on Friday, August 14. Championship qualifying rounds and the colourful Oluyole Owambe Night will follow on Saturday, while the finals, hole-in-one challenge and awards presentation ceremony will conclude the event on Sunday.

Presented by Openfield Properties and Management Limited, the championship is backed by Leadway Assurance, Guinness Nigeria Plc, Risevest, Mamuda Group, Shoreline Natural Resources Limited, AMNI International Petroleum Development Company Limited and CKROWD as principal sponsors.
