Tinubu, Political Leaders Grace Wedding Of Humanitarian Affairs Minister’s Daughter In Jos

President Bola Tinubu, represented by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on Saturday, led an array of political leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, clergy and family members to Jos, Plateau State, for the wedding ceremony of Ichi Doro, daughter of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro.

The solemnisation of holy matrimony between Ichi Doro and Fidelis Iliya took place at ECWA Gospel Church 2, Jos, amid a colourful gathering that attracted dignitaries from across the country.

Among those present were Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, serving senators, members of the National Assembly, governors, senior government officials, APC stalwarts and top management staff of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who joined family members and well-wishers to celebrate with the minister.

Delivering President Tinubu’s goodwill message at the ceremony, Yilwatda described Dr. Doro as a dependable, loyal and committed member of the administration whose dedication to public service has continued to earn him respect within government and beyond.

According to him, the President recognises the minister’s passion for service and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable Nigerians through the programmes and policies of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

He congratulated the couple on their union and urged them to build their home on love, mutual respect, patience and faithfulness.

“The President celebrates with your family on this joyful occasion and wishes the couple a lifetime of peace, happiness and fulfilment. May they also emulate the virtues of dedication, integrity and commitment that have distinguished Dr. Doro in both public and private life,” he said.

In his remarks, Mutfwang described Dr. Doro as a longstanding friend whose family is widely respected for its humility, kindness and generosity.

According to the governor, the groom had not only married into a reputable family but had also found another home filled with warmth and genuine affection.

“Dr. Doro is an old friend whose family has consistently demonstrated kindness and compassion. The groom is indeed fortunate to become part of this family. I pray that God grants the couple a peaceful, fruitful and enduring marriage,” Mutfwang said.

Earlier, the officiating minister, Rev. Ayuba Asheshe, charged the newlyweds to make God the centre of their marriage, stressing that lasting homes are built on trust, forgiveness, sincerity and unwavering commitment to one another.

Drawing from biblical teachings on marriage, the cleric urged the couple to remain faithful, tolerant and prayerful, adding that love should always triumph over differences.

The church service featured special prayers for the couple, their families and the nation, while hymns and choral renditions added solemnity to the ceremony.

Following the church service, guests were treated to a colourful reception marked by cultural displays, traditional dance performances and musical entertainment that reflected the rich cultural heritage of Plateau state.

The event also provided an opportunity for political leaders, associates and well-wishers to interact and celebrate with the Doro and Iliya families in an atmosphere of joy and thanksgiving.

The wedding drew guests from across Nigeria, underscoring the minister’s longstanding relationships across political, religious and social circles.

An emotional Dr. Doro, while expressing appreciation to the guests, said he was deeply humbled by the overwhelming show of love and solidarity demonstrated by those who travelled from different parts of the country to honour his family.

“I am overwhelmed by the calibre of personalities and the number of people who have come to celebrate with my family today. I sincerely appreciate every one of you for identifying with us on this special occasion,” he said.

The minister described the wedding of his daughter as one of the happiest moments of his life, noting that while he would miss her presence at home, he was grateful to witness her begin a new phase of life.

“I am delighted to see my precious daughter get married. It is indeed a thing of joy for every parent, even though I know I will miss her greatly.

“My prayer is that God will continue to guide both of them as they begin this journey together. I have advised the couple, especially my daughter, to ensure that peace, understanding and mutual respect remain the foundation of their home. A successful marriage is built on love, patience and sacrifice,” Doro added.

The wedding was chaired by Chief Jerry Joseph Damara- APC Senatorial Candidate, Gombe South.
