Two Nursing Mothers, Man Remanded For Alleged Facebook Impersonation, N2m Crayfish Fraud

Two nursing mothers and a man have been remanded in the Uyo Correctional Centre over alleged impersonation and fraud involving the hacking of a crayfish dealer’s Facebook account and the diversion of customers’ payments running into millions of naira.
The suspects, identified as Yusuf Fauziyah, Ahmed Eneye Joy and Alogun Emmanuel Egah, all reportedly from Edo State, were ordered to be remanded by an Uyo Magistrate Court pending their arraignment before the Federal High Court, Uyo.
The case followed a complaint by a customer who allegedly paid N2 million for the supply of crayfish but did not receive the goods.
The court heard that the suspects allegedly gained access to the Facebook account of a popular crayfish dealer from Oron Local Government Area, operating under the name “Sweet Oron Crayfish,” and used the platform to defraud unsuspecting customers.
According to the facts presented before the court, the two female suspects allegedly contacted Egah, who was said to have hacked the victim’s Facebook account. The account was then allegedly used to pose as the genuine crayfish dealer and collect payments from customers without supplying the goods.
The real owner of the account was reportedly arrested by the police following complaints from a customer who had paid the N2 million but failed to receive the crayfish.
However, further investigation allegedly led to the arrest of the two nursing mothers, who reportedly mentioned Egah as the person connected to the hacking of the account. He was subsequently arrested, and the three suspects were brought to Akwa Ibom State to face the allegations.
The matter took a humanitarian dimension when the two women appeared in court with their infant children, identified as Oluwaseyi Emmanuel Daniel, aged one year and three months, and Imole Oluwa Gift Rachel, aged nine months.
In a ruling in Charge No. MU/MISC. 493C/2026, presided over by Magistrate Sam Ukoima, the court ordered that the three suspects be remanded at the Uyo Correctional Centre pending their arraignment before the Federal High Court, Uyo.
The court also directed that the case file be forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Concerned about the welfare of the two infants, the court ordered the Akwa Ibom State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs, to take custody of the children and provide for their care.
The court directed that the children should only be released to their respective fathers or their mothers upon proper identification and in accordance with the court’s order.
The case was adjourned until July 31, 2026, for a report.
