APC spokesperson Alwan Hassan has sparked fresh reactions after defending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the long-running controversy surrounding his educational records, arguing that not having primary or secondary school certificates is not a criminal offence.

Speaking during a political discussion, Hassan claimed that several prominent public office holders have questionable academic credentials, insisting that educational certificates should not be the sole measure of leadership.

According to him, “There are some SANs in this country who don’t have any degree certificates. There are some senators and lawmakers who have forged degree certificates. So Tinubu not having primary and secondary education is not a crime.”

His remarks have generated widespread debate on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the comparison, while others defended his position.
