Eze Udo Ndigbo Ifako ljaiye, Lagos State, has announced the passing of its secretary, Chief Chris Elememba (Aruaka 2).
A press release by Eze lkoro Otisi, (Agadagbachiri Uzo) Eze Udo Ndigbo Ifako ljaiye LG.A, informed his fellow Eze Ndigbo Nauzoije, the cabinet members of the Obi Ndigbo Ifako-ljaiye, Obi Ndigbo Lagos and the entire Ohanaeze Ndigbo, that Elememba on passed 31 July 2026.
He said that Elememba was secretary of his palace.
According to Otisi, “We have lost one of the most precious pillars of our cabinet. Our palace secretary, a man whose presence was the very backbone of our traditional administration, has gone to be with his ancestors.
“I find it almost impossible to believe that a man I spoke with only yesterday morning, full of life, full of his usual wisdom and quiet strength has been taken from us so suddenly today. The shock is unbearable. The grief is deep. My heart is truly heavy.”
He disclosed that for nearly two years, Elememba’s family and the cabinet “fought tirelessly, searching everywhere for a solution to his ailment, praying fervently, hoping against hope that he would pull through. We did everything within our power. We refused to give up on him. But alas, the inevitable has come.”
Eze stated that Elememba was not just a secretary, adding that “he was a rare gem. He served this palace and the Obindigbo Ifako-ljaiye with unwavering dedication, with intelligence that illuminated our deliberations, and with insight that guided us through many complex matters. He was careful in his dealings, meticulous in his duties, and his contributions to our cabinet were nothing short of enormous. He was prominent, hardworking, and his loss will be felt deeply, sorely, and for a very long time.”
However, Eze Otisi assured all that his cabinet remains intact
He said that the cabinet is waiting for communication on burial arrangements from the family of Elememba, and urged the cabinet to follow up closely with his immediate family regarding the burial arrangements.
According to him, the cabinet will do “the needful, honorably and respectfully, in full accordance with our cherished traditions as Obindigbo Ifako-ljaiye and as the larger Ohaneze Ndigbo.”
