Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has sparked reactions online after recounting his experience taking a driverless Uber ride in Atlanta, United States.
The comedian shared his experience while talking about the growing use of autonomous vehicles, expressing surprise that he entered an Uber without finding a driver behind the wheel.
According to AY, he only realised what was happening after getting into the vehicle and discovering that there was no human driver.
“I entered Uber in Atlanta but driver no dey,” he reportedly said.
His experience has since generated conversations among Nigerians online, with many comparing the technology to what is obtainable in Nigeria and joking about how autonomous vehicles would fare on Nigerian roads.
Some users also questioned whether Nigerians would feel comfortable entering a car being controlled entirely by artificial intelligence.
