  • Israel DMW, media aide to Davido, commented on a viral video involving Tony Elumelu.
  • The video features a young woman addressing Elumelu by his first name, “Tony,” at a public event.
  • The woman is identified as a graduate trainee from the UBA Banking School.

Media aide to Davido, Israel DMW, has weighed in on the viral video showing a young lady addressing businessman and UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu by his first name at a public event.

The incident occurred when the young woman, who was reportedly a graduate trainee of the UBA Banking School, stood up to ask Elumelu a question. During her interaction, she referred to him simply as “Tony”, a manner of address that appeared to catch the businessman off guard.

Elumelu quickly corrected her, explaining that she should address him as “Chairman” or “Mr Elumelu” instead. He also stated that he does not subscribe to what he described as the “oyinbo life.”

The video subsequently sparked reactions online, with social media users sharing different opinions about the young lady’s approach and Elumelu’s response.

Reacting to the controversy, Israel DMW criticised the young woman’s conduct, attributing it to what he described as the influence of social media, Gen Z culture and a lack of home training.

He wrote:

“Can you just imagine? Effects of online university graduate, lipstick, eyelashes, TikTok, Gen Z shit, and lack of home training.”
