MKA To Victims Of Herdsmen Attacks, Killings:  Be Courageous, United To Overcome Insecurity In Benue

MAKURDI –  Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN) has advised the people of Sai, in Katsina-Ala, Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State, on the need to be united and courageous do as to overcome the attacks and killings orchestrated by armed herdsmen on their communities.

Popularly referred to as MKA, by his admirers, Aondoakaa, who disclosed this when he commiserated with the people of Sai, over the recent killings in the area, stressed that the continued killings and displacement of innocent persons in communities can be overcome through genuine unity and common purpose.

Charging youth in the communities to confront the menace of insecurity threatening their ancestral lands with courage, the former Minister of Justice, urged the youth to remain vigilant and security-conscious by working closely with concerned authorities.

According to MKA, who is also the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 elections in Benue state, the fight against insecurity must not be used as an excuse for lawlessness, stressing that discipline, vigilance, and togetherness were essential to defeating criminal elements.

He however slammed the state government for alleged attempts by the state government to intimidate Benue sons and daughters from sympathizing with victims of attacks.

Describing the alleged action, as “alien” to the values of Benue state and inconsistent with the principles of democracy, he stated that no government should suppress citizens who peacefully identify with the suffering of their brothers and sisters.

Also expressing sympathy over the persistent attacks on communities by terrorists, during the visit, Aondoakaa, noted that insecurity can also be resisted and overcome through the collective resolve of the people of the state.

Frowning at alleged attempts to
intimidate Benue sons and daughters from sympathizing with victims of attacks across the state, he noted that the action is inconsistent with the principles of democracy, therefore no government should suppress citizens who peacefully identify with victims of attacks.

Aondoakaa argued that he believes in a society where brothers stand by one another irrespective of political affiliation, emphasizing that humanity, compassion, and the protection of lives must always take precedence over partisan interests.

Ambassador Chive Kaave, former Nigerian Ambassador to Argentina, who appreciated the PDP candidate for creating time to visit them, despite the alleged threats and intimidation.

He described the visit as a demonstration of courage, compassion, and selfless leadership.

In their separate remarks, representatives of the elders, women, and youths in the Sankera axis of the state, commended Aondoakaa for his uncommon display of brotherhood, solidarity, and genuine concern for the victims.

They thanked him for standing with the people in their moment of grief and prayed for God’s protection, wisdom, and strength as he continues to advocate for peace, justice, and security in Benue state.
