- The suspect was reportedly remanded at Warri Prison in Okere after appearing before High Court 1 in Effurun.
A 31-year-old NYSC member serving as a teacher at a private school off Jakpa Road in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has been arrested and arraigned over the alleged s+xual ab¥se of a six-year-old girl.
According to the child, the corps member allegedly took her to his apartment within the school premises on three occasions when her mother arrived late to pick her up from school.
The girl alleged that the suspect s+xually ab¥sed her during the incidents and threa¥ened to k+ll her if she told her mother.
She further claimed that he used a white handkerchief to frighten her into keeping silent after allegedly using it to clean her bl%od.
A medical examination reportedly found that the child had sustained injuries, including a rupture to her v+lva.
A Delta-based activist who took up the case disclosed that the suspect was arraigned before High Court 1 in Effurun and subsequently remanded at the Warri Prison in Okere.
The case was adjourned until September 18, 2026, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Reacting to the report, social media users condemned the alleged incident and called for justice.
