The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its governorship and deputy governorship candidates in 28 states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Among the notable candidates are former Kaduna State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Isa Mohammed Ashiru; former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami; former Delta State governorship candidate, Great Ogboru; and former Senator representing Katsina North, Ahmad Babba Kaita.
The list also includes Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who was the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State in the 2023 election.
The candidates were announced in a statement issued on Friday by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
Abdullahi said the candidates would carry the party’s banner and its commitment to providing Nigerians with credible leadership and a viable political alternative.
“These men and women will carry the ADC banner and our commitment to offer Nigerians credible leadership and a real alternative,” he said.
The list also features Modibbo Hammantukur Ribadu in Adamawa State and Senator Halliru Dauda Jika in Bauchi State.
The ADC said governorship campaigns for the 2027 elections are scheduled to commence on September 9, 2026.
The candidates unveiled by the party are:
Abia: Governor – Kalu Kalu Agu; Deputy Governor – Alozie Ogidimma Darlington.
Adamawa: Governor – Modibbo Hammantukur Ribadu; Deputy Governor – Aguwa Kevin Iliya.
Akwa Ibom: Governor – Akpanudoedehe John James; Deputy Governor – Nsien Mkpombuk Tommy.
Bauchi: Governor – Senator Halliru Dauda Jika; Deputy Governor – Sama’ila Mohammed Kabir.
Benue: Governor – Rt. Hon. Herman Iorwase Hembe; Deputy Governor – Abba John Abba.
Borno: Governor – Babagana Buhari; Deputy Governor – Mamman Dauda.
Cross River: Governor – Nkoyo Toyo; Deputy Governor – Okwoche Andrew Adagbor.
Delta: Governor – Chief Great Ogboru; Deputy Governor – Afiari Gloria.
Ebonyi: Governor – Ukpai Mba Udeh; Deputy Governor – Onwe Daniel Ede.
Enugu: Governor – Ocho Obodoze Chukwuma; Deputy Governor – Eze Arinze Christopher.
