Boy Left Stranded After GH₵500 “iPhone 11” Turns Out To Be Empty Shell With No Motherboard

A young boy has found himself stranded and visibly distressed at a phone market after discovering that a device he had purchased as an iPhone 11 for GH₵500 was nothing more than a hollowed-out shell, missing its motherboard entirely.

From the outside, the phone had looked convincing enough, dressed up with a sleek case and a screen that appeared new, details that likely played a big role in the deception but once opened, all that greeted him was empty space where the phone’s core components should have been, a discovery that left him standing helplessly by the roadside as he tried to process what had happened.

A nearby phone seller, noticing the boy’s obvious distress, approached to find out what was wrong. After learning the details, he didn’t hold back, telling the boy plainly that no genuine iPhone 11 sells for anywhere near GH₵500, given its real market value sits above GH₵1,500.

The gap between what he paid and what the phone was worth made it clear he had been set up from the start.
