A Dutch woman reported missing after the deadly floods in Nepal has been found alive.
The woman lives in Nepal and was in the Himalayan region when the disaster struck on August 26, 2026.
She later reached Kathmandu and contacted the Dutch Foreign Ministry.
Officials have not disclosed her identity or explained how she survived the disaster.
Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Berendsen welcomed the development but said the authorities remained concerned about two other missing Dutch nationals.
They are 29-year-old Christiaan Berghuis from Nijkerk and 51-year-old Maaike Moolhuijsen from Haarlem.
The pair were travelling with about 80 people on a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash in Tibet.
Reports said the group was waiting inside an immigration office when floodwater and mud swept through the area.
Officials have not confirmed what happened to the people inside the building.
The disaster began after a glacier collapsed in the Himalayas. Water, mud and debris surged down the Bhote Koshi River and destroyed communities near Nepal’s border with Tibet.
More than 1,100 people had been confirmed dead when the woman made contact. Thousands of people remained missing.
Rescue teams continued searching flooded communities and hydropower tunnels for survivors.
The Dutch Foreign Ministry said it was supporting the families of Berghuis and Moolhuijsen while waiting for further information.
