The family of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai has given the Defence Minister seven days to prove his claim that the former governor planned killings in Southern Kaduna or publicly take back what he said and apologise.

General Christopher Musa made the allegation on a live TV show on September 3.

The El-Rufai family said on Monday that this is a serious accusation and can’t just be thrown out without proof.

They’re demanding Musa either show evidence or retract the claim on the same television programme where he made it.

The family said the Defence Minister is free to have his own opinions, but when you make such a serious claim against someone, you have to back it up with solid evidence.

None was presented when he made the allegation, they pointed out.

If Musa doesn’t comply within seven days, the family said they’ll take legal action against him.
