A woman has sparked reactions online after sharing why she stopped attending church and decided to send her tithe to an orphanage instead.
The woman, identified as @maxnonso on X (formerly Twitter), said she was transferred to Uyo for an assignment and began attending a church close to her home.
According to her, she faithfully paid her tithe for seven months. However, she stopped paying for almost two months after her salary was delayed.
She said she planned to pay the outstanding tithe once she received her salary. However, a comment from her pastor made her decide to stop attending the church.
The pastor reportedly told her, “You’re eating God’s money. If you continue like this, you’ll never move forward.”
Following the comment, she stopped going to the church. She said the pastor continued to call her, but she refused to return.
Instead, she began sending her tithe to an orphanage home.
“He kept calling, but I never went back. I started sending my tithe to an orphanage instead,” she said.
