“Nigerians, Get Your PVCs” – Woman Laments As ₦50,000 Electricity Purchase Drops From 958 To 222 Units
- A Nigerian woman has raised concerns over the amount of electricity units she now receives for ₦50,000, saying the same amount that gave her 958.5 units in May now gives her just 222 units in September.
- She questioned President Bola Tinubu over the development and urged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards ahead of the 2027 election.
A Nigerian woman has raised alarm over the amount of electricity units she now receives for ₦50,000, saying the same amount bought significantly fewer units in September than it did in May.
In a video circulating online, she claimed that a ₦50,000 electricity purchase gave her 958.5 units around May, but that the same amount now gives her only 222 units.
“Nigerians don’t really know what’s happening in this country. I used to buy ₦50,000 worth of electricity around May and get 958.5 units. Now in this September, the same ₦50,000 is giving me just 222 units. This is over a 400% increase. President Tinubu, what is happening?” she said.
She also urged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards and said they should vote against the government in the next election.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government said on September 21 that it had no immediate plan to increase electricity tariffs, while NERC issued September 2026 tariff and monthly energy-cap documents for DisCos.
