“I Have No Peace Of Mind”- Dispatch Rider Cries Out Over Alleged Harassment By Police, Agberos And LASTMA

A Nigerian man working as a dispatch rider has opened up about the difficulties he faces on the job, saying he was forced into the profession because he needed to provide for his family.

The man, who identified himself as a professional mechanical engineer, explained that he took up dispatch riding after struggling to get customers for his engineering services.

According to him, working as a dispatch rider has left him without peace of mind, as he alleged that riders are frequently harassed by the police, agberos and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

Sharing his frustration, he said many people do not take up dispatch riding because they enjoy the job but because circumstances leave them with little choice.

“I am tired of this depression. Being a dispatch rider is not easy. No dispatch rider can come out to say they enjoy doing the job; circumstance brought some of us into this job.

“I am a professional mechanical engineer, but I have no customers and I need to feed my family. That’s why I found myself doing this job, but ever since I started, I have had no peace of mind.

“Police, agbero, LASTMA will disturb you. Why? I am just tired,” he said.
