Appeal Court Ruling: Ebonyi PDP Backs INWC, Urges INEC To Update Records

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has welcomed the Court of Appeal ruling nullifying the purported National Caretaker Committee led by Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu and Muhammed Abdurahaman, describing the judgement as a reaffirmation of the party’s internal processes and constitutional order.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Nwafor Richard Nwali, the party said the decision strengthens the leadership structure currently operating under the Interim National Working Committee (INWC) chaired by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
The state chapter, under the leadership of High Chief Onyema Peter Nwele, said the judgement reinforces the judiciary’s recognition of the party’s authority to manage its internal affairs and demonstrates the resilience of democratic institutions.
According to the statement, the Ebonyi PDP remains fully aligned with the INWC and committed to advancing the party’s interests through lawful and transparent leadership.
The party also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately reflect the changes arising from the court ruling on its official records and discontinue recognition of individuals whose claims to leadership had been nullified by the court.
The statement urged party members across the country, particularly those at the grassroots level, to remain committed to the PDP’s ideals and principles, describing the party as a platform for restoring democratic governance and national prosperity.
On developments within the state, the Ebonyi PDP reaffirmed its support for the existing zoning arrangement and maintained that the party’s governorship ticket would remain within the Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone.
The party further advised Abdurahaman, Anyanwu, Ajibade and their associates to desist from presenting themselves as leaders of the party and to avoid actions capable of undermining its image following the Appeal Court ruling.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparent and purposeful leadership, the party called on members to embrace peace and contribute to rebuilding confidence and trust among supporters, especially at the grassroots level.
