BYSIEC Chairman Peter Singabele Marks 70th Birthday, Reflects on Public Service and Sports Development

Chairman of the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC), Peter Singabele, has attributed his 70 years of life and achievements to God’s faithfulness and grace.

Speaking ahead of his 70th birthday celebration, Singabele described the milestone as a significant moment, expressing gratitude for good health, family blessings, and a successful career in public service.

The celebration, themed “Celebration of God’s Faithfulness,” was organized at the instance of his children, he said.Reflecting on his experiences, Singabele recalled surviving two life-threatening incidents while serving with the United Nations in Somalia, where he participated in humanitarian operations. He said his continued good health is the result of proper nutrition, regular exercise, and lifelong involvement in sports.

Singabele highlighted his contributions to sports development in Bayelsa State, noting that his journey in sports administration began during his tenure as Sole Administrator of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area in 1998/1999. He founded Adaka FC as part of efforts to engage youths and reduce restiveness in the area.

Several players from Adaka FC later joined Bayelsa United following the club’s establishment in 2000. Singabele also said he played a role in the formation of Bayelsa United before serving on the board of the Nigeria Football Federation. According to him, his years in public service and sports administration have contributed positively to youth development and sports growth in Bayelsa State.
