Gombe Reps Member Tongo Dies, Gov Yahaya Mourns

Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the member representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, describing his passing as a painful loss to Gombe State and Nigeria.

Hon. Tongo died on Friday in Abuja after a prolonged illness.

In a condolence message by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Governor Yahaya paid tribute to the late lawmaker, describing him as an astute grassroots politician, seasoned public servant and dedicated representative who devoted his life to the service of his constituents and the development of the state.

The governor said the death of the federal legislator was a huge loss not only to his family and constituents but also to Gombe State and the nation at large.

According to him, the late lawmaker distinguished himself through impactful constituency projects, humanitarian interventions and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people he represented.

“Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo was a passionate grassroots leader whose contributions to community development and public service earned him the respect and admiration of many. His demise is indeed a huge loss to our state and the nation,” Governor Yahaya stated.

Governor Yahaya extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, members of the National Assembly, political associates and the entire people of Gombe State.

He prayed Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late lawmaker, reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus and grant his family, associates and constituents the strength to bear the loss.
