The Kaduna State Government has welcomed the arrest and arraignment of 24 suspects in connection with the killing of a woman in Maraban Jos, describing the development as an important step toward justice and the enforcement of the rule of law.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the government commended the Kaduna State Police Command for what it described as a prompt investigation and professional handling of the case.
According to the statement, Governor Uba Sani’s administration strongly condemns mob violence, vigilante justice and all forms of extrajudicial actions. “The rule of law remains the foundation of a democratic society, and no allegation or suspicion can justify taking another person’s life outside the legal process,” Maiyaki said.
The commissioner urged residents to report suspected criminal activities to security agencies and allow lawful authorities to investigate and prosecute offences where necessary. He noted that the police have indicated that more than 100 additional individuals are under investigation in connection with the incident.
The government pledged continued support for security agencies and judicial institutions to ensure accountability, maintain public order and protect the rights of citizens. Maiyaki also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and called on residents to remain peaceful and cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
According to police and government statements, the woman was killed in a mob attack after being accused of involvement in a kidnapping incident. Authorities have not announced any court findings regarding the allegation, and investigations remain ongoing. The Kaduna State Government reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all those found responsible are prosecuted through due legal process.
