Mahmoud Commends First Lady’s Economic Inclusion Drive As 1,000 FCT Traders Receive Support

Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has lauded First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for advancing economic inclusion through targeted interventions aimed at empowering vulnerable groups and small-scale entrepreneurs across the country.

Mahmoud spoke on Saturday in Karon Majigi, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), during the empowerment of 1,000 petty traders under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a programme spearheaded by the Office of the First Lady.

The intervention provided financial assistance and business support tools to beneficiaries drawn from across the Federal Capital Territory as part of efforts to strengthen livelihoods, reduce poverty, and promote self-reliance.

According to the minister, the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which seeks to expand opportunities for economically disadvantaged Nigerians and ensure inclusive development.

She described the programme as a practical demonstration of the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable citizens and enhancing their participation in economic activities.

Mahmoud commended the First Lady for what she termed her compassionate leadership and sustained dedication to humanitarian causes, noting that her interventions continue to restore hope and dignity to many Nigerians.

“Empowering vulnerable persons is not merely a charitable gesture but a strategic investment in human capital and sustainable national development,” she said.

The minister reiterated the commitment of the FCT Administration to promoting policies and programmes that guarantee equal opportunities, accessibility, and full participation of all citizens in governance and development.

She added that the administration would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to build a more inclusive society where every resident has the opportunity to realise his or her potential.

“The FCT Administration will continue to work with stakeholders to ensure that no one is left behind in the development process and that all citizens can contribute meaningfully to national progress,” she stated.

Mahmoud urged beneficiaries to utilise the support judiciously to expand their businesses, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to economic growth within their communities.

She also expressed appreciation to the First Lady for extending practical support to vulnerable groups in the territory and for championing initiatives that promote economic empowerment and social inclusion.

Earlier, former FCT APC Women Leader, Mrs. Hailmary Aipoh, praised Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her commitment to supporting women, families, and small business owners through impactful empowerment programmes.

Aipoh expressed optimism that the intervention would help beneficiaries strengthen their enterprises and improve their economic prospects.

The empowerment programme forms part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s broader efforts to support vulnerable Nigerians, stimulate small businesses, and foster inclusive economic growth across the country.
