The Eagle Brain Human Rights Organization (EB-HRO) has advised prospective students to exercise caution and consider postponing enrolment in Bachelor’s Degree programmes offered by the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation into issues related to programme accreditation and certificate issuance.
In a statement made available to journalists in Kaduna, the group said it received a complaint from an NTI graduate regarding the non-issuance of certificates to some graduates since 2015.
According to EB-HRO, its preliminary inquiries raised concerns about the accreditation status of the degree programmes and the delay in issuing certificates to affected graduates. The organization said it understands that the matter is currently being reviewed by a relevant regulatory authority.The rights group urged prospective students, parents, guardians and employers to seek clarification from appropriate authorities before making decisions related to the programmes.
It also encouraged graduates who have not received their certificates to continue engaging with the institution and relevant regulatory bodies for updates on the situation.“This notice is issued in the interest of public awareness, transparency and the protection of students,” the statement said.
EB-HRO pledged to provide further information when the investigation is concluded and an official position is released by the relevant authority. At the time of filing this report, NTI had not issued a public response to the concerns raised by the organization.
