Alleged Death Of 12-Year-Old Boy: Woman Surrenders To Police As Anambra Intensifies Quest For Justice

The principal suspect in the alleged flogging to death of a 12-year-old boy in Adazi-Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, has surrendered to the police following days of intensive manhunt operations.

The suspect, identified as Mrs. Dim Ebere, 47, voluntarily presented herself at the Neni Divisional Police Headquarters after sustained pressure mounted by operatives of the Anambra State Police Command’s Safe School Protection Squad in collaboration with officers of the Neni Division.

The development marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the tragic incident that sparked widespread public concern and calls for justice.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, where detectives will conclude investigations before charging her to court.

The Police Command commended the Adazi-Ani community, the traditional institution, and other stakeholders for their cooperation, describing their support and continuous engagement with security agencies as instrumental in securing the suspect’s voluntary surrender.

The Command also reassured the bereaved family and the public that justice would be pursued diligently and transparently, emphasizing that no effort would be spared in ensuring accountability.

Police further appealed to residents to remain law-abiding, avoid acts of self-help or retaliation, and continue to volunteer credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and strengthen security across Anambra State.

The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring that anyone found culpable in the case is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
