Bode Market Inferno: Alli Donates ₦25m To Victims, APC Women Leader Gives ₦5m, Adekanmbi ₦2.5m

IBADAN – The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has donated ₦25 million to traders affected by the recent inferno at Bode Market, Ibadan, as part of efforts to support victims in rebuilding their businesses.

Alli announced the donation on Friday during a sympathy visit to the market, where he met with traders whose shops and goods were destroyed by the fire.

The APC governorship candidate was received by the market leadership, including the Babaloja, Mr. Salau Oloya, and the Iyaloja, Mrs. Sikira Alaja, alongside other traders.

Addressing the victims, Alli expressed sympathy over the incident and assured them of his commitment to supporting people in times of hardship.

He said responsible leadership should be demonstrated through compassion, prompt intervention and practical support for citizens, particularly during emergencies.

According to him, the APC remains committed to restoring hope to the people of Oyo State through responsive governance and strategic interventions that improve livelihoods.

The ₦25 million donation was welcomed by traders, many of whom described the gesture as a significant relief that would assist affected business owners in recovering from their losses.

In a related development, the Oyo State APC Women Leader, Dr. Adekemi Opatunde, donated ₦5 million and 15,000 nose masks to the affected traders.

She said the donation was aimed at complementing ongoing support efforts while promoting safety and health within the market environment.

The gesture was particularly appreciated by women traders, who described it as timely and encouraging in the wake of the disaster.

Earlier, the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Bimbo Adekanmbi, had also visited the market and donated ₦2.5 million to support victims of the inferno.

The series of donations has brought relief to many affected traders as they begin efforts to rebuild their businesses following the devastating fire incident.
