Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has shared the interesting story of how he met his wife, revealing that their relationship started after she initially kept him in the friend zone.

The singer recounted how he first noticed his wife while attending church. According to him, he was immediately attracted to her and decided to approach her and ask for her phone number.

After getting her contact, Dakolo said he invited her on a date in an attempt to get to know her better. However, things did not go exactly as he had hoped, as she continued to treat him as just a friend.

Determined to win her over, the singer revealed that he went as far as driving her to work every day. Despite his efforts, she still did not appear ready to take their relationship beyond friendship.

Dakolo eventually decided to step back and stopped calling her for four days. His decision, however, seemed to change the situation, as she later reached out to him and gave him an opportunity to pursue a relationship with her.

Recalling how the entire journey eventually led to marriage, Timi Dakolo said:

“I saw a beautiful girl in church and got her number. I took her on a date, but she kept friend-zoning me, even after I started driving her to work every day. I stopped calling for four days… then she called and gave me a chance. That’s how I met my wife.”

The singer’s story has since highlighted the unexpected twists that can sometimes shape relationships, with what began as a one-sided pursuit eventually growing into marriage.
