Isaac Fayose has criticised Nigerians who protested petrol prices during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration but now praise President Bola Tinubu despite the sharp rise in the cost of petrol.
In a statement circulating on social media, Fayose compared the fuel price under Jonathan with current prices, arguing that Nigerians who once described petrol at about ₦98 as expensive are now accepting prices of around ₦1,500 while praising Tinubu.

Petrol sold for ₦97 per litre before Jonathan’s administration reduced the pump price to ₦87 in January 2015.
Meanwhile, petrol prices have risen to about ₦1,400 to ₦1,500 per litre in parts of Nigeria in September 2026 amid higher global crude oil prices and rising domestic costs.
