Bandits Abduct 14 Women on Farm in Niger, Demand Food Supplies for Release

Fresh Security Scare as Terrorists Also Ambush Police Officers Travelling from Sokoto to Zamfara

Bandits have abducted 14 women working on a farm in Mekunjeri, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, with their captors reportedly demanding food supplies from the victims’ families and an Islamic cleric as a condition for their release.

The armed men reportedly stormed the farm on Sunday afternoon and whisked away the women, who are said to be associated with an Islamic school operated by a cleric identified simply as Malam.

Sources told *Leadership* that the kidnappers had established contact with the cleric and relatives of the abducted women, demanding food supplies before releasing their captives.

The unusual demand has heightened concerns over the safety of the victims, who remain in the custody of their abductors.

However, details surrounding the circumstances of the abduction, including whether the kidnappers have made additional demands or issued a deadline, remain unclear.

As of the time of filing this report, the Niger State Police Command and the state government had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

### Terrorists Ambush Police Officers Travelling to Zamfara

In a separate security incident, suspected terrorists have reportedly killed some officers of the Nigeria Police Force following an ambush on a vehicle conveying security personnel from Sokoto State to Zamfara State.

According to *Daily Post*, the officers were travelling to carry out a special assignment when their vehicle came under attack by armed assailants.

The attackers reportedly launched the assault along the route, leaving the security operatives exposed to the deadly ambush.

However, details of the attack remain sketchy, with no official confirmation of the number of casualties.

It is also unclear how many officers were killed or injured, or whether any of the personnel survived the attack.

The two incidents have further raised concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Nigeria’s North-West and North-Central regions, where armed groups continue to target civilians and security personnel.

The absence of official statements on both incidents has also left families and concerned residents awaiting clarity on the fate of the abducted women and the police officers caught in the ambush.
