Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called on parents, guardians, and caregivers to prioritise the protection, education, and welfare of children across the state as part of activities marking Children’s Day.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said children must be provided with a safe and supportive environment to grow and achieve their full potential.
Oborevwori urged families to nurture children with sound moral values, quality education, and protection from abuse, exploitation, and neglect. According to him, every child deserves access to education, healthcare, and opportunities that prepare them for responsible adulthood and leadership.
The governor said his administration remains committed to policies that promote child welfare and development across Delta State.He noted that the state has domesticated the Child Rights Protection Act to strengthen legal safeguards for children and protect their rights.
Oborevwori also highlighted the government’s free education policy at the basic and secondary school levels, as well as free medical treatment for children under five years old. “Children are precious gifts and the future leaders of our society. We must work together to ensure they are protected, educated, and properly guided,” he said. He wished children across Delta State a happy Children’s Day celebration.
