The National Orientation Agency in Jigawa State has urged Nigerians to reflect the values of Eid al-Adha in their daily lives to promote national unity and development.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Dutse by the agency’s Head of Communication and Media, Sarah Ogodo, on behalf of the state director, Ahmad Ibrahim.
According to the statement, Ibrahim said the lessons of Eid al-Adha, which commemorates the sacrifice and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim, remain relevant to Nigeria’s current challenges.
He identified sacrifice, discipline, compassion and selflessness as values citizens must uphold beyond the festive period to strengthen national growth and peaceful coexistence.
The NOA director stressed that national unity could only be achieved when citizens demonstrate faith in God, love for the country and responsibility toward one another.
He also called on Nigerians to support lawful authority, obey the law and promote peace within their communities.
The agency further encouraged Muslims in Jigawa State to emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion by extending charity to the less privileged and fostering unity across ethnic and religious divides.
Ibrahim commended residents for the peaceful conduct of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations across the state and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting civic responsibility, national values and positive attitudinal change.
