The Northern Christian Association (NCA) has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for the arrest of five suspects alleged to be connected to the November 2025 abduction of students and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, in Niger State.
In a statement issued on Monday, NCA Chairman, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, praised the DSS and its Director-General, Oluwatosin Ajayi, for what he described as a significant step in ongoing efforts to combat insecurity.
Hayab said the reported arrests highlight the importance of intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations in addressing terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes. According to him, disrupting networks that allegedly supply weapons and logistics to criminal groups is essential to reducing their operational capacity and protecting vulnerable communities.
He urged security agencies to conduct thorough investigations and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law.The NCA chairman also acknowledged the sacrifices of security personnel working under challenging conditions to safeguard lives and property across the country.
While commending the development, Hayab called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts against terrorism and violent crime to strengthen public confidence and improve national security. He expressed optimism that sustained collaboration among security agencies, communities and other stakeholders would contribute to a safer and more peaceful Nigeria.
