Alleged Fake Agency DG: G Withdraws Forgery Charges Against Adeniyi Adeyemi

- The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count forgery charge against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who was accused of presenting himself as the head of a purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
- The Federal Government withdrew the charge after identifying issues with the case and said it would arraign him afresh before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count forgery charge against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who was accused of presenting himself as the Director-General of a purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Justice Mohammed Umar struck out the charge on Monday, October 12, 2026, following an application by the Federal Government to withdraw the case.
The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation had reviewed the case file and identified issues with the original charge filed by the Inspector-General of Police.
Oyedepo explained that the alleged forged documents fell within the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court. He also informed the court that a fresh charge had been filed and that the government intended to arraign Adeyemi again without delay.
Adeyemi had faced charges bordering on alleged conspiracy, forgery and impersonation. He previously pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
The decision to strike out the charge has triggered reactions on social media, with some Nigerians questioning why the case was filed in a court that the prosecution now says lacks the appropriate jurisdiction.
The current charge being struck out does not amount to an acquittal, as the Federal Government says it intends to pursue the case through a fresh arraignment.
