“₦60bn was deployed but it failed” – Rufai Oseni speaks on alleged federal influence in Osun election

  • Rufai Oseni has claimed that federal influence was deployed during the Osun governorship election, citing a reported ₦60 billion allegedly deployed in the state and comments attributed to Davido’s father, Dr. Deji Adeleke.
  • The journalist also dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu allowed a free and fair election, alleging that the APC is using the narrative as damage control after the outcome. His comments have sparked mixed reactions online.

Arise TV journalist Rufai Oseni has claimed that the narrative that federal might was not deployed during the Osun State governorship election has been disproved, alleging that significant resources were deployed in an attempt to influence the outcome.

Speaking on the election, Oseni referenced comments attributed to Davido’s father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, who reportedly said he heard that ₦60 billion was deployed during the election but failed to prevent the people from standing firm.

“The claim that federal might wasn’t used in the Osun election is dead and buried. Even Davido’s father said he heard ₦60 billion was deployed, yet it failed because the people stood firm against the federal government.”

Oseni also accused the All Progressives Congress of pushing narratives aimed at softening the impact of its defeat, including the claim that President Bola Tinubu allowed a free and fair election.

“APC is now pushing narratives to soften the defeat, including that Tinubu allowed a free and fair election but that story is equally dead.”

His comments have generated reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing with his assessment of the election while others pointed to alleged actions by federal agencies as evidence of political interference.

@Paschaline09: May God guide and protect Rufai

@OgaJobonline: They were distributing raw mint cash and EFCC looked the other way and that is not federal might? They closed a state account, arrested some of the major supporters of the governor, that is not federal might? I blame the governor wey missed road.

@Adathebeloved: Power belongs to the people. We should make our votes count. If they distribute bigger money, collect and vote for a good leader

@oyokometer: Exactly

@DonBJOsea: Facts! Even Davido’s father confirmed the ₦60bn was thrown around, yet Osun people still stood firm. Federal might failed. The ‘Tinubu allowed free and fair’ narrative is pure damage control. Power belongs to the people.

@realsovic: Rufai is the only fearless journalist alive in Nigeria. What a man!
