Amnesty International has condemned the Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, over a video in which he allegedly threatened to chase out anyone who refuses to join or vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the area.
The rights organisation, in a post on its Facebook page, described the chairman’s remarks that residents who will not vote for the APC must leave Kuje as a call to violence and a direct attack on freedom of association and personal liberty.
According to Amnesty International, no one’s right to live anywhere in Nigeria should be conditioned on joining or voting for a particular political party.

It urged the police and other security agencies to immediately halt any plan to use violence against residents over their political choices.
Amnesty International described the chairman as a danger to society, adding that he must be held to account for threatening violence against those who may not vote for APC.
